August 2022

                                                                                                                                                                                                 August Volunteer Work Day Crew

Interesting Fact: From May - August, the KT Trail Crew has put 1187 hours into trail maintenance and 2329 hours into new trail construction.

Our next Volunteer Trail Work Day will be Saturday September 25th, please email lukas@kingdomtrails.org to be added to the volunteer contact list.

Trail Projects Completed August 1- September 1, 2022:

  • Key to the longevity and sustainability of any trail network, trail rehabilitation is always ongoing. August saw the crew on Ozias, Hog Back, Piggy Back, River Run, NewT, and Bear Back improving drainages, reshaping berms & benches, and repairing bridges.

  • Continuing to take our direction from our Capacity study that advised new expansion into the Lyndonville area, the construction of a 3 mile loop around Kingdom Campground will be ongoing til completion next summer. This trail will be a combination hand and machine build.
  • Pete's Dragon in O'Reilly's Backyard opened. An excavated blue square trail with a few black diamond features found off of Lou Lou's, this addition gives riders yet another opportunity to progress their skills to the next level with big berms, smooth rollers, and optional jumps lines. Thank you to the Wildflower Inn for generously providing their land and the trail crew for making the trails. Enjoy!

Thank you to all for your tremendous support. We are so glad to be part of this amazing community.

Vermont State Treasurer, Mike Pieciak, speaks at the 2025 Outdoor Recreation Day at the Statehouse
By Abby Long February 13, 2025
KT is taking action—on the trails and in the Statehouse! This 2025 Legislative Session, KT is teaming up with other amazing trail organizations through the Vermont Trails & Greenway Council, to advocate for H.147 a bill to establish the Recreational Trails Compensation Study. Why does this matter? Vermont’s outdoor recreation economy generates $2.1B annually, nearly 5% of the state’s GDP, that's 2nd in the nation after Hawaii (Go VT!) KT alone drives $10M in economic impact annually. Therefore, the state must recognize and incentivize these generous private landowners, including the 106 who make KT possible and allow public access to trails.
