End of Season Letter 2022

November 1, 2022

Thank you for another incredible season on Kingdom Trails!

Dear Friends,

Thank you for another incredible season on Kingdom Trails!

As our
2022 Community Report reflects, the word Together wholeheartedly describes this past year.

Together derives from the Old English word
togædere, meaning “to be present in one place, in a group…”.  The past few years challenged us to find ways to be together, yet the trails always afford us that space.

We are so happy to be back together again with our neighbors to the north, as border closures were lifted and Canadians could once again visit our beautiful community.

Our trail users and community members gathered together for Volunteer Trail Building Days, Community Chats, Vermont Youth Cycling races, summer camps and afterschool bike clubs. The Chamber’s annual Burke Fall Festival and Burke Mountain Resort had the honor of hosting a successful international Enduro World Series event, the first time for this event on the East Coast.

Together our Trail Crew worked hard to build 4.23 miles of new trail and dedicated 1846 hours to trail maintenance. Our Ambassadors and Information Specialists welcomed all, sharing the Bike Borderlands code of conduct; Ride with Gratitude. And the KT Team and Board of Directors engaged with our stakeholders, bringing them together to vision for a future Outdoor Recreation Community Hub that will serve as a KT welcome center.

And our 105 Landowners come together every single day to provide this gift for you. As is tradition, KT even invited them together to enjoy a wonderful appreciation celebration dedicated to them, thanking them for their incredible generosity.

Soon, when Mother Nature deems trails ready to open for the Winter season, we’ll be outside together on the trails again, braving the cold on our nordic skis, fatbikes, and snowshoes.

Until then I hope all is happy and healthy.

Vermont State Treasurer, Mike Pieciak, speaks at the 2025 Outdoor Recreation Day at the Statehouse
By Abby Long February 13, 2025
KT is taking action—on the trails and in the Statehouse! This 2025 Legislative Session, KT is teaming up with other amazing trail organizations through the Vermont Trails & Greenway Council, to advocate for H.147 a bill to establish the Recreational Trails Compensation Study. Why does this matter? Vermont’s outdoor recreation economy generates $2.1B annually, nearly 5% of the state’s GDP, that's 2nd in the nation after Hawaii (Go VT!) KT alone drives $10M in economic impact annually. Therefore, the state must recognize and incentivize these generous private landowners, including the 106 who make KT possible and allow public access to trails.
